**Windows:** download **BetterFlow-Windows-Setup.exe** and run it (per-user install, no admin). Do **not** download the `-Update.zip` — that file is only used by the app's built-in auto-updater.
**macOS:** `BetterFlow-macOS-<arch>.dmg`
**Linux:** `BetterFlow-linux-x86_64.AppImage`

Privacy-First Time Tracking
Hashed Window Titles
Window titles are hashed by default. We see that you used VS Code, not what file you edited.
Domain-Only Browser Tracking
For browsers, we only track the domain (e.g., github.com), not the full URL or page content.
Smart Categorization
Apps are automatically categorized (Development, Communication, Design, etc.) for easy reporting.
Automatic Sync
Activity syncs to BetterFlow automatically. No manual exports or uploads required.
Pause Anytime
Need privacy? Pause tracking from the menu bar. Resume when you are ready.
Low Resource Usage
Runs silently in the background with minimal CPU and memory footprint.
Quick Setup Guide
Install BetterFlow Sync
macOS: Open the DMG file and drag BetterFlow to your Applications folder.
Windows: Extract the ZIP first (right-click the download → Extract All), then run BetterFlow.exe from the extracted folder — don’t launch it from inside the ZIP.
macOS: "BetterFlow Not Opened" warning
Since BetterFlow is not distributed through the Mac App Store, macOS will show a security warning the first time you open it. This is normal for apps downloaded from the internet. To allow it:
- Try to open the app (you will see the warning) and click Done
- Go to System Settings → Privacy & Security
- Scroll down - you will see "BetterFlow was blocked..."
- Click Open Anyway
- Enter your password when prompted
You only need to do this once. After that, BetterFlow opens normally.
Windows: “Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file”
This appears when the app is launched from inside the ZIP (Windows then runs it from a temporary folder) or when the download was blocked. To fix it:
- Right-click the downloaded ZIP → Extract All… and pick a folder (e.g. Documents).
- Open the extracted folder and run BetterFlow.exe from there — not from inside the ZIP.
- Still blocked? Right-click BetterFlow.exe → Properties, tick Unblock at the bottom, then Apply.
- If you see “Windows protected your PC”, click More info → Run anyway.
You only need to do this once. A signed installer that avoids these prompts is on the way.
